Remember on a scientific level our brains are like velcro to negative and teflon to positive experiences. So we have to work a little to stay positive.
Here are a few practices you can try: 1. Intentionally feeling positive longer when you have a positive experience. Let's say someone is nice in public, lets you get in line cause you only have 1 thing or gives up a seat or just a random smile of kindness. Savor that - think about it as long as you can and relive it often. 2. Be mindful during happy moments. Most of us let magic moments just slip by, when something good is happening feel the chair your sitting on, breathe deeply, become conscious of your physical body in the moment. BE THERE! 3. Savor a compliment - relive it over and over. People don't take the time to say something nice unless at least 10 other people feel the same way - it's true statistically. Which is sad but that's another story, we are only thinking positively. Hope these are helpful.
